Stockton Borough Citizens have a new community-based tool to fight crime with the launch of the WeTip School, from the Stockton Borough School.

WeTip is an anonymous hotline for all citizens to report illegal activity or crimes. The WeTip hotline is a way for people to get involved in establishing a safer neighborhood and help keep our school safe.

Sometimes people are often afraid to report crime information because they fear retaliation from the person they are reporting on. WeTip gives students and their families an opportunity to give information without fear.

The telephone number, which is available 24 hours a day is 1-800-78-CRIME. When people call the hotline, the operator will say, “This is the WeTip crime line please do not give your name.” The operator will then ask a series of questions, designed by law enforcement, to obtain the maximum amount of information about the reported illegal activity.

After the information is taken, if the caller requests a reward, a code name and number are assigned to the caller.

WeTip information is immediately conveyed to the appropriate police, fire and sheriff’s agencies. Cash rewards of up to $1,000 are given for information helpful in the arrest and conviction. Rewards are given using the assigned code names and case numbers. No personal contact is ever made with the caller.

If you have any questions about this program, please contact WeTip Director of Marketing, Sue Mandell at 909-5005, extension 250 or email her suemandell@wetip.com. Or you may call the school at 609 397-2012.
